Although the US-based tech giant Apple entered the artificial intelligence sector a bit late, it is now trying to make its mark with Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence’s New Language Support
One of the newest players in the AI landscape, Apple Intelligence, has announced its plans to expand language support. With the release of iOS 18.1, it is now clear which regions and languages Apple Intelligence will be available in. Currently, the service is limited to the United States in English, but it will soon be available in other English-speaking countries. Starting in December, users in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom will be able to use the system in their local English dialects.
The major expansion is expected in April 2024, when 11 new language options will be added to the system. According to Apple’s statement, these languages include Chinese, Indian English, Singaporean English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
A key highlight of Apple’s move is its focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The inclusion of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese in the first wave of the expansion underscores Apple’s prioritization of these markets. From Europe, the languages selected belong primarily to major economies.
Many other significant markets remain outside this initial wave of language support. Apple has yet to announce when additional languages might be added, signaling that users in these regions may have to wait a bit longer to access Apple Intelligence’s features.
