Towards the end of 2022, a massive leak revealed gameplay videos of GTA 6. It was stated that the person who leaked more than 90 test videos was an 18-year-old teenager. In a new report, it was reported that GTA 6 leaks were made using Amazon Fire TV.
GTA 6 Leaker Exploited Cloud Server with Amazon Fire TV
An 18-year-old hacker living in the UK has admitted that he was responsible for the massive leaks of GTA 6 last year. Arion Kurtaj, a member of the hacking group Lapsus$, revealed that he used an Amazon Fire TV Stick to gain remote access to Rockstar’s cloud services.
For those who don’t know, Amazon Fire TV is a multimedia device that connects your TV to the internet to access a variety of streaming services. It lets you watch apps like Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube, as well as local channels.
Arion Kurtaj reportedly exploited a loophole in cloud servers with the help of Fire TV. Through this vulnerability, he infiltrated Rockstar’s network and obtained confidential information in Slack messages from employees.
As you may recall, more than 90 videos were released late last year, revealing the testing phase of GTA 6. The 18-year-old even said he would release more videos if Rockstar didn’t contact him.
In the latest investigation by British police, Kurtaj’s television was reportedly a Fire TV and contained hundreds of GTA 6 videos. The cyber-attack case against the 18-year-old and other Lapsus$ members is ongoing.
