Renowned director Michael Mann has started preparations for the long-awaited sequel to Heat, first released in 1995. After 29 years, Mann, who is working on the second movie, stated that filming for Heat 2 may be delayed until 2025.
Filming for Heat 2 will start in 2025
Heat 2 will be based on the novel of the same name, which both precedes and continues the first movie. The movie is expected to continue the story of Neil McCauley, played by Robert De Niro, and Vincent Hanna, played by Al Pacino as an LAPD detective.
The famous director has not confirmed whether De Niro and Al Pacino will reprise their roles. In this context, Adam Driver and Austin Butler stand out as the lead actors selected for Heat 2.
It is possible to say that the relations between Mann and Adam Driver are quite good. The two had previously worked on the movie Ferrari, which was released in 2023, and said that they got along very well. Austin Butler’s Dune: Part Two and Austin Butler has also risen considerably with Dune: Part Two. Although the cast has not been confirmed yet, the name possibilities for Heat 2 are very high.
Released in 1995, Heat made waves with its realistic portrayal of Los Angeles criminals and cops. It was also praised for the performance of its star-studded cast. In this context, audiences expect Mann to return to the iconic characters after nearly 30 years.
