Samsung, as you know, started offering 7 years of Android update support with the S24 series. Unfortunately, this update support doesn’t yet cover last year’s flagships. However, a Samsung executive on LinkedIn announced that a new device will receive updates for more than 7 years.
Promise of 8 years of Android updates for the Galaxy Tab Active 5 EE
Apple’s long-standing update support is no longer just a dream for Samsung users. The new S24 series offers an extended Android update support of 7 years. Samsung is now aiming to surpass this record with the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Enterprise Edition tablet model.
Samsung France’s Mobile Experience Marketing Director, Philippe Duchene, posted a message on LinkedIn, which he later deleted. The post contained important information about the new Galaxy Tab Active 5 EE tablet aimed at corporate customers.
The most important piece of information from these details was the promise of an 8-year Android update commitment for the Active 5 EE tablet. It’s unclear whether Samsung reconsidered this policy after the post was deleted. However, there is a possibility that the executive shared this exciting news eagerly in advance.
Technical specifications of Galaxy Tab Active 5
Although the Active 5 EE tablet has not yet been released, Samsung is showcasing the model to businesspeople at exhibitions. Both the Galaxy Tab Active 5 and the Enterprise Edition model are expected to be officially introduced this month. The rugged tablet will come with a case resistant to drops from up to 12 meters.
In fact, this isn’t Samsung’s first Android update privilege for corporate customers. Previously, the company provided five years of Android update support for corporate devices while implementing a four-year Android update policy.
