The film, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, is a science-fiction comedy about a woman who discovers she is connected to parallel universes. Michelle Yeoh, who plays a supporting role in the film, also made history as the first Asian woman to win the Best Actress award. Yeoh is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme.
Brendan Fraser won the award for Best Actor for his role in “The Whale,” a drama about a man who reconnects with his estranged daughter while dealing with his own health issues.
