Microsoft’s web browser has been around for a while, but after 27 years this is changing. The company is finally retiring the Internet Explorer. The browser first appeared in 1995 on Windows desktop computers and it peaked in 2004 and held 95 percent of the market. Unfortunately, the adventure came to an end after 27 years.

What happen to the Internet Explorer?

Internet Explorer has been user’s favorite internet browser for a long time, but this has changed after the release of faster alternatives like Chrome, Safari and Opera. Users did not want to use Explorer anymore and it becomes the best Chrome installer of all time.

The increasing popularity of smartphones made the situation worse for Internet Explorer. Mobile users preferred to use pre-installed browsers such as Apple‘s Safari and Google Chrome. This was the last nail in the coffin. Microsoft, which once owned 95 percent of the market, couldn’t take it anymore, and announced its retirement plans last year.

Finally, that day came and after 27 years of adventure, Explorer said goodbye to us. However, this does not mean that the browser will disappear completely. Although the consumer version is closed, the version offered for corporate customers will remain open for a while.

As you know, many institutions around the world use Windows XP and the Internet Explorer that comes pre-installed. Microsoft continues to provide update and security support to these institutions for a fee. They can still use a free alternative instead of paying, but why they did not do that remains a mystery
