The first trailer of the movie, part of which was actually shot in space, has arrived. The Russian-made movie called The Challenge managed to attract attention. In 2021, truly historic steps were taken in space. Private space companies, which took access to space from the monopoly of states, started civilian missions. Thus, it started to open space to everyone.
They spent 12 days in space for the shooting of The Challenge
In addition, Russia, where access to space is under government support, took a very different step in 2021. It sent a crew to the International Space Station (ISS) on a Soyuz rocket for the first movie scenes to be shot in space. Russia hired an actress and a director to shoot part, but not all, of this feature-length movie. Actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko, along with veteran cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, made the smooth journey from Baikonur Spaceport in Kazakhstan to the ISS.
With the help of cosmonauts from the Russian section of the ISS, Peresild and Shipenko captured impressive footage. After 12 days on the ISS, they returned. It was said at the time that other Russian cosmonauts Novitskiy, Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov also played small roles in the footage. The movie will be available to watch in full on April 12.
Also, the announced plot of the movie doesn’t look bad either. A female surgeon named Zhenya, played by Russian actress Yulia Peresild, is sent to the ISS to perform heart surgery on a sick cosmonaut who cannot return to Earth for treatment. It is reported that Peresild undergoes serious medical, psychological and physical tests to make sure she can handle space travel.
