Google is changing usage habits for large-screen devices with Android 14. The release of Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet brings a series of design innovations. As a result, with Android 14 Beta 3, the mouse cursor gets a much more modern look.
Android 14 Beta 3 revamps mouse cursor
The new mouse cursor, noticed by Android developer Mishaal Rahman, is quite different from the design found in Windows or MacOS. It features a more rounded design, unlike the angular arrow found in Android 13 and previous versions. Some users likened the new cursor to a “paper airplane with rounded corners.”
Furthermore, Google has chosen to remove the body of the cursor with Android 14, resulting in a triangular design that takes up less space on the screen. This change appears to be in line with the touch habits of Android applications.
The new cursor design also incorporates the Material You style. By combining rounded corners, Google showcases its uniqueness in Android 14. Although these may seem like small changes, they promise to improve the user experience of Android.
Google also emphasizes power savings and a new charging indicator with Beta 3. Additionally, Beta 3 brings back the popular feature of touch surface gestures from Android 11.
Android 14 Beta 3 has started to roll out for Pixel smartphones. Unfortunately, the number of accessible devices is currently quite limited. The range of models will increase with the stable version.
