Microsoft has started revamping its old applications on Windows. The Mail and Calendar software, which has been available for over 10 years, will be merged into a single application. The new app called Outlook for Windows will provide Windows users with a new option.
Microsoft to replace Mail and Calendar with Outlook for Windows
Microsoft announced some time ago that it would update its applications. The software giant faced some backlash regarding the abrupt change, so it revised the timeline for the transition. One notable change was the removal of the Mail and Calendar application.
Microsoft initially stated that it aimed to transition to Outlook for Windows in September of next year. This change would involve removing the old applications and adding useful features to the new app.
However, according to the revised information in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the company is reevaluating the timing and implementation of this change. Although Microsoft has not announced when the application will be released, it has shown determination in this regard.
According to information from Microsoft, users will no longer have access to the Mail and Calendar applications once they transition to the new Outlook app. Users with a Microsoft/Outlook 365 subscription will be able to switch to the new tool immediately. Additionally, the Outlook app for Windows will support third-party emails.
