Artificial intelligence-generated visuals have made a big impact on social media. Small game developers in particular have started to use AI to create some of the material in their productions. However, Steam says it will keep AI-generated content on the platform by “analysing” it.
Steam says it will review AI content
Recently, there has been controversy surrounding the use of AI-generated content in games published on Steam. A claim that first appeared on Reddit claimed that Valve had blocked artificial intelligence on the platform. The company has issued a statement on the matter, explaining its stance on artificial intelligence.
According to Valve spokesperson Kaci Boyle, Steam will continue to support AI content. The platform will even integrate AI into existing review policies. However, material that violates creators’ copyrights will reportedly be removed.
It has been announced that Steam is looking to incorporate artificial intelligence into its review process. However, Valve must have some ownership and sufficient rights to the content submitted by developers. Material purportedly created by AI should not violate the copyrights of third-party developers.
Valve’s review process now appears to be more detailed. Developers have been advised to be careful when using AI-generated content in their games.
