Apple’s Vision Pro glasses have a number of problems. The complex design of the AR/VR glasses makes mass production difficult. New reports have revealed that the release date of the Apple Vision Pro will be delayed. The company will also be selling the glasses by appointment only through the Apple Store.
Vision Pro will only be sold at the Apple Store by appointment
According to a new report, Apple will make the Vision Pro available in the US in early 2024. By the end of 2024, it will only be available in the UK and Canada. In European and Asian markets, it will not be available until 2025 at the earliest.
However, it has been reported that initial sales will be very difficult. Despite the $3500 price tag, Apple will only sell it in certain stores and by appointment. With these appointments, the company will call customers to the Apple Store and help them use the glasses.
The tech giant also plans to sell accessories such as alternative headbands, external battery packs and shoulder bags in its stores. Prescription lenses will also be available for people who wear glasses.
Apple is developing an iOS app to help users before they buy glasses. A physical head-scan test will be available in stores to show how best to use Vision Pro. For online orders, customers will be asked to upload their prescription lenses and head scan data.
Apple said at the launch event that the product will be available in 2024. So much so that the company set a sales target of 1 million units in the first year. However, the reports that have emerged are far from this figure. The news that emerged a few days ago suggested that just under 400,000 Vision Pros would be produced in the first year.
