WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging platform, is working on several new features to enhance user experience. One of these features is a new security enhancement aimed at increasing user safety. WhatsApp is introducing a security feature called “passkey.” So, what will this feature do? Here are the details!
WhatsApp is working on the passkey feature!
As one of the most widely used messaging platforms, WhatsApp continually introduces various features to its users. One of these features was recently revealed. According to information uncovered by WaBetaInfo, the platform is working on a feature called “passkey.”
Especially in recent times, many users have been expressing concerns about security. This feature, however, is likely to bring joy to users. According to information, the passkey feature introduces a new way to protect your account. Information about this feature can also be seen in screenshots.
On a page where the passkey is activated, the statement reads, “You can now verify it’s you with a passkey using your fingerprint, face, or device lock.” For those unfamiliar, the passkey is a system working to establish a secure identity verification system.
Users can log in using facial recognition or biometric data without having to create a traditional password. This makes security more effective. In short, thanks to this feature from WhatsApp, users will be able to log in more securely.
WhatsApp has not officially provided any information about this feature. However, according to information stated by WaBetaInfo, the new feature is currently in the testing phase. Additionally, Apple announced in June that it would introduce an automatic passkey feature for Apple ID accounts for users on iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma.
