M3 Ultra will be more powerful than the M2 Ultra
For a long time, reports about the launch of the expected devices at Apple’s upcoming event keep revealing. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who is a trustful Apple leaker, claims that Apple’s M3 Ultra chipset will have a significant boost compared to last year’s M2 Ultra. According to the reports, Apple will introduce the first M3 Macs in October, and the high-end M3 chipset will hit the market with its specs.
When we look at Bloomberg’s reports, we can see that the Ultra will show a major increase in terms of CPU cores and a bump in GPU cores. Mark Gurman says that the Ultra would be available on Mac Studio and Mac Pro. He released the expected specs of the upcoming chipset and a comparison between the expected one and its predecessor:
- Base M3 Ultra specs: 32-core CPU with 24 performance cores and eight efficiency cores, 64-core GPU
- Base M2 Ultra configuration: 24-core CPU with 16 performance cores and eight efficiency cores, 60-core GPU
- Top-end M3 Ultra specs: 32-core CPU with 24 performance cores and eight efficiency cores, 80 GPU cores
- Top-end M2 Ultra specs: 24-core CPU with 16 performance cores and eight efficiency cores, 76-core GPU
The first M3 Macs are set to launch in October, including a new 13-inch MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, and a new 24-inch iMac. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips are expected in 2024, followed by updated Mac Pro and Mac Studio versions with the M3 Ultra.
