After years of development and multiple delays, Starfield, the space-themed game from Bethesda, is finally counting down to its release. The game, currently in a closed beta phase, recently made headlines due to a significant leak. A player leaked a 42-minute gameplay video of the upcoming game, causing a considerable stir in the industry. The video initially shared on YouTube and later taken down, has led to consequences for the individual behind the leak.
Darrin Harris, who leaked Starfield, was arrested
According to Kotaku’s report, a 29-year-old named Darrin Harris has been arrested in the United States. Harris faces multiple charges, including possession of illegal substances and theft ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 in value. In addition to leaking gameplay footage, it was revealed that Harris attempted to sell stolen copies of the game from the warehouse where he worked before its official release. Furthermore, he was found to have listed the Constellation edition of the game on the Japanese e-commerce platform Mercari.
Starfield is set to be released on September 6th and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on the same day. If you purchase the Premium edition of the game, you will have early access and be able to play the game starting from September 1st.
The leaked content in question has been removed from YouTube. The leaked 42-minute video of the game wasn’t a direct screen recording but was captured vertically using a phone. Consequently, the visuals and audio aren’t fully representative. However, based on what has been captured, the game’s music stands out notably.
The music for the game was composed by Inon Zur, who has previously worked on projects like Prince of Persia and Fallout 4 and has been nominated for numerous awards. As mentioned earlier, the music in Starfield sounds impressive. Following that, there’s a discussion about the game’s main menu. Interestingly, the simplicity of Starfield’s main menu seemed to bother people on social media for some reason. Bethesda appears to have maintained this design choice.
