Sony is preparing to introduce the Sony Xperia 1 VI model, which aims to return to its glory days in the smartphone market with its features and design. While not much detail about the smartphone has been revealed so far, a recent report has shed light on some of its key features.
Sony Xperia 1 VI will offer high-end camera performance
In May, Sony unveiled its flagship Xperia 1 V model powered by the latest Exmor T camera sensor and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. However, the latest information suggests that the company is working on the Xperia 1 VI.
It is claimed that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will be showcased at MWC 2024, which is scheduled to take place in Barcelona from February 26 to 29. Additionally, it is said that the phone will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
Qualcomm has set the launch date for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as October 2023. The new processor will be unveiled at the annual Snapdragon Summit, which is expected to be held in Maui, Hawaii, from October 24 to 26.
In addition to the launch date, the processor is expected to impress with its performance. According to the information received, the processor will receive a significant performance boost and will host a Cortex-X4 core with a clock speed of 3.7GHz. Changes in the core architecture of the processor are also expected.
The current flagship chipset used today, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, features Cortex-X3 architecture and operates at 3.2 GHz. This means that the new processor is likely to significantly improve daily performance. Furthermore, the new processor is expected to follow a 1+5+2 architecture, consisting of one “super-large” core, five “large” cores, and two “small” cores.
Another leaked piece of information about the smartphone relates to its camera features. It is suggested that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will come with a large-sensor 6x zoom camera. The camera is also expected to include Sony’s Clear Image Zoom technology, which enhances zoomed-in image quality.
