Laptops with foldable screens are becoming more and more common. Following brands such as Asus and HP, LG announced that it has entered this market with its new device called Gram Fold. The Windows 11-based laptop can be used as both a 17-inch tablet and a 12-inch laptop.
Either 17-inch or 12-inch: What does the LG Gram Fold offer?
The LG Gram Fold comes with a 17-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1920×2560 and an aspect ratio of 4:3. Unlike other laptops that fold inwards, the Gram Fold can be folded outwards like a book. This allows you to use it as both a tablet and a laptop.
LG stated that Gram Fold has a hinge that is resistant to folding up to 30 thousand times. When folded, the device is 9.4 mm thin and weighs only 1.25 kg despite its large screen. It can also optionally be connected to a keyboard, mouse or pen.
The Gram Fold is powered by a 13th generation Intel Core i5 processor. It also comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage. Although LG did not specify its capacity, it stated that it is suitable for all-day use with its 72Wh battery.
The biggest shortcoming of the Gram Fold, which has a Dolby Atmos supported triple speaker system, is that it does not have a camera. Especially with the lack of a front camera, it makes it difficult to participate in online meetings.
Gram Fold will go on sale only in South Korea in the first phase with a price tag of around 3700 dollars. It is unclear whether the foldable laptop will be available globally.
