iQOO, which started its activities as a subsidiary of Vivo in 2019 but currently operates independently, is set to unveil the iQOO 12 soon. Based on the rumors circulating so far, we have some information about the performance the company’s latest smartphone will offer. A recent report sheds light on when the device will be introduced.
iQOO 12’s launch date revealed
Mukul Sharma, known for leaks in the industry, mentioned that the upcoming iQOO 12 model will be showcased at the end of November or at the beginning of December at the latest. The exact unveiling date is expected to be revealed in the coming days, and the source noted that the device will be one of the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the market.
The iQOO 12 will sport a Samsung E7 1.5K AMOLED panel with a refreshing rate of 144 Hz. There are reports suggesting that the model will have a 2K screen resolution, but currently, the emphasis is on 1.5K.
The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This chipset will offer a significant performance boost with a Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.7 GHz. Changes in the core architecture of the processor are also expected.
The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, currently in use, features the Cortex-X3 architecture and operates at 3.2 GHz. This upgrade implies a direct impact on daily performance. The new processor is expected to have a 1+5+2 architecture, featuring one “super-large” core, five “large” cores, and two “small” cores.
The iQOO 12 will have a metal build and support 200W fast charging. Additionally, it will be available with RAM options up to 16 GB and storage options ranging from 512 GB to 1 TB, utilizing UFS 4.0 technology. The device will also include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C 3.x port. Furthermore, it will feature a main camera with a 50-megapixel OV50H sensor.
Expected to be introduced in December, the iQOO 12 is anticipated to run the Android 14-based Origin OS 4.0 interface right out of the box.
