The US state of Iowa filed a new lawsuit against TikTok. The lawsuit alleges that the company misled parents about the types of content their children could be exposed to. The chief prosecutor who handled the case stated that there was content on TikTok that would not be suitable for young users.
According to the lawsuit, TikTok chooses to hide critical comments in app stores. Thus, it misleads parents who review the application in markets such as the App Store. The attorney general also objected to TikTok’s rating as ages 12+.
As a result of her own research, Iowa is on TikTok; He said there were dances, drug use instructions and content encouraging self-harm that could endanger young children. This means that a 13-year-old child could be badly affected by the videos.
Iowa also filed a lawsuit over TikTok’s “ Restricted Mode ,” which filters out various content for younger users. The research argues that this feature does not censor videos as the company claims. It was even stated that younger profiles were forced to watch these trending videos.
Iowa sought an injunction against TikTok for allegedly violating the Consumer Fraud Act. Content concerns regarding TikTok have become a topic of discussion in different US states such as Indiana, Arkansas and Utah.
