Beond is a Maldivian airline catering to the luxury travel market. The company has decided to offer $3,500 Apple Vision Pro headphones as in-flight entertainment for passengers seeking an extravagant journey.
Beond offers Apple Vision Pro to elite passengers
Apple’s Vision Pro is packed with the performance of a computer and features super high-resolution screens in a compact form that you can wear on your head. The Vision Pro can create stereoscopic effects by placing a screen in front of each eye and can display large virtual screens that appear to float in space. For example, Vision Pro can scale a video to cinema size.
According to Beond CEO Tero Taskila, Vision Pro will offer movies and games and will “showcase the magnificent holiday destinations and activities in the Maldives.” If done well, an interactive video presentation showcasing the resort’s amenities and fun local experiences could be useful and entertaining for travelers.
Beond is not the first airline to offer an in-flight XR experience. Earlier this month, Hainan Airlines partnered with Rokid to offer smart glasses to passengers. Rokid Max was paired with a Rokid Station filled with 3D movies for a three-hour flight.
Vision Pro requires special fit and prescription lens attachments for an optimal experience. It’s unclear how Beond will ensure fit for its customers. Additionally, many find Vision Pro uncomfortable after wearing it for more than an hour, which could limit the enjoyment of watching movies during the flight.
