Sony has officially announced that the Uncharted 2 movie has been made. Steven O’Dell, President of Sony International Distribution, said at the 2024 CineEurope trade show that the Uncharted sequel is among the films Sony Pictures is currently working on.
Sony confirms Uncharted 2 movie is in the works
Released in 2022, the action-adventure film Uncharted, based on Naughty Dog’s video game series of the same name, starred Tom Holland in the lead role.
Holland, who played the character of Nathan Drake in the movie, was hired by Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) and raced to find the Magellan treasure with a corrupt billionaire (Antonio Banderas) and a mercenary leader (Tati Gabrielle).
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the film earned $407 million worldwide. Sophia Ali, Rudy Panjow, Manuel de Blas and Steven Waddington also starred in the film.
It was reported two years ago that Sony was planning to make an Uncharted 2 movie starring Holland and Wahlberg. Wahlberg revealed last year that a script for the sequel had been written and was in the works. The closing scene of the first movie certainly hinted that a sequel was coming, with details like Nathan Drake meeting a man who works for Gabriel Roman and Sullivan donning his famous mustache hinting at a sequel.
Uncharted is currently streaming on Disney Plus in Turkey. What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
