Forgot about me: Samsung announced its plans regarding Bixby!

At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung announced Gemini integration and revealed its plans regarding its own voice assistant, Bixby.

On July 10, 2024, Samsung garnered significant attention at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event with its advancements in artificial intelligence. While initially omitting details about its voice assistant Bixby, amidst the introduction of Gemini integration and Galaxy AI, new information regarding Bixby has emerged. Here are the details:

At the Galaxy Unpacked launch, Samsung captivated users with its Gemini integration, raising questions about the future of its voice AI assistant, Bixby. Samsung has now disclosed its plans for Bixby, which will be equipped with new artificial intelligence capabilities in the near future, dispelling concerns about its absence from the ecosystem.

TM Roh, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Business, revealed in an interview with CNBC that the company will introduce an AI-enhanced version of Bixby by the end of the year. Despite collaborations, Samsung will continue to rely on its own language model for Bixby, rather than solely relying on ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

Samsung’s decision for the Galaxy S25 series in the opposite!

Having last received a major update at the beginning of 2023, Bixby is poised for significant developments that have been anticipated since then. Sources close to Samsung suggest that the AI-equipped Bixby will debut alongside One UI 7 in the coming months.

It’s worth noting that Samsung, a South Korean technology giant, stands as one of the few major tech firms not integrating AI into its voice assistant. Nonetheless, Samsung’s new initiative is not expected to be too late in this regard.
