Turkey’s indigenous air defense missile system, Hisar, is moving into the serial production phase. The system’s long-range firing tests have been successfully completed, and the new-generation Hisar O battery, in its serial production configuration, has successfully hit a target at over 40 kilometers.
With the transition to serial production, significant improvements have been made in the system’s performance and capabilities. Key enhancements include a new-generation radar, advanced guidance and control software, and extended-range maneuverability, all contributing to increased effectiveness. The goal is to further extend the range of Hisar by incorporating new technological advancements on top of its existing capabilities.
The Steel Dome project will integrate Turkey’s various air defense systems, radars, and sensors into a unified framework. This will allow data from all systems to be consolidated, creating a unified air picture that will be transmitted in real-time to operational centers. Artificial intelligence support will also provide decision-makers with the most accurate and rapid information flow.
The transition of Hisar to serial production and its integration into the Steel Dome project represents a significant step for Turkey’s air defense capabilities. This will enable Turkey to protect its airspace more effectively. Additionally, the first batch deliveries of the new-generation Hisar systems are expected to enter the inventory by the end of 2024.

In the firing test activities conducted as part of the HISAR O Serial Production Project, the new-generation HISAR O Battery fired an RF Seeker Head Missile, which successfully intercepted a target at over 40 km.
As part of the HISAR Serial Production Project initiated by our presidency, we have introduced performance-enhancing updates to the Fire Control/Command Control architecture, transitioned to IP communication infrastructure, integrated a new-generation radar with enhanced target detection capabilities, advanced guidance/control software, and extended-range maneuver capabilities into the HISAR O systems.
We will continue to work on extending the effective range of the HISAR O System with new-generation technological gains. I would like to sincerely congratulate the ASELSAN and ROKETSAN engineers, our compatriots, who work day and night, achieve success, and contribute new capabilities.”
