With this agreement, Samsung will invest more in automotive technologies. Qualcomm will increase performance for ADAS and infotainment systems. It will also offer new memory solutions to its customers and avoid disruptions in the supply chain.
According to Samsung, LPDDR4X DRAM memory chips support data transfer rates of up to 9.6Gbps. It also maintains high performance even under extreme temperature conditions inside an automobile, enabling the platform to be used at full efficiency.
The company is also working on the next generation of LPDDR5 memory. This is expected to be a much faster memory chip and should improve the performance of ADAS systems. However, it is unclear when LPDDR5 memory will be available.
