After introducing the iPhone 16 series to users in September, Apple has quickly begun working on the iPhone 17 family, set to be unveiled in 2025. Industry sources claim the company will make some changes in the new series, including bidding farewell to the Plus model and potentially adding a new model named Air or Slim. Recent reports have revealed some features of the iPhone 17 Slim.
What will the iPhone 17 Slim offer users?
As the name suggests, the iPhone 17 Slim (Air) will be a smartphone that stands out for its thinness. Therefore, the company needs to make changes to existing screen technologies to push the boundaries of thinness.
DigiTimes, known for its industry leaks, claims that Apple has shown interest in a recent announcement made by Novatek, a Taiwanese screen manufacturer. This technology, called TDDI OLED, combines the touch sensor layer with the display driver in a single unit, enabling the production of smartphones that emphasize thinness.
It’s said that Apple could be one of the first customers for Novatek’s TDDI OLED technology and may use it in the iPhone 17 Slim model to be introduced next year.
The device is expected to come with a 6.6-inch display featuring 120Hz ProMotion support. It will utilize the Apple A19 chip produced with a 3nm manufacturing process and is said to be the most expensive version of the series, starting at a price of $1,299. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models will reportedly be priced at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
