Instagram is preparing to introduce a notable change in its design. Recent reports reveal that the platform is testing a new position for the DM button, which is currently located in the top-right corner. So, where exactly will the DM button be moved?

Instagram is relocating the DM button to the bottom bar

According to visuals shared by reliable sources, Instagram is planning to make a significant change by moving the DM button to the center of the bottom navigation bar. This adjustment is reportedly aimed at allowing users to access the messaging feature more quickly.

In the new layout, notifications will take the place of the DM button in the top-right corner, while the new post creation button, currently located at the center of the bottom bar, will be moved just to the left of notifications.

Sources indicate that these tests have been ongoing since July and are now being expanded. Unfortunately, there is no confirmed launch date for this change. However, considering that the new design is being tested with a wider audience, it seems users won’t have to wait too long.

Although no official explanation has been provided, reports suggest that the DM feature is one of the most frequently used functions on Instagram. This could be the reason behind the platform’s decision to make messaging more accessible with this redesign.
