The iconic design of the Apple Magic Mouse, which has been on the agenda with its design that users often criticise, may change. Recent leaks show that the design will completely change with the new Magic Mouse.
Apple may introduce the new Magic Mouse design in 2026
In 2009, nearly 13 years have passed since Apple introduced the first multi-touch Apple Magic Mouse. The company has edited this mouse a total of 2 times. However, no design-related changes were made in the updates that took place twice. The first update was made in 2015 and the mouse was reintroduced as version 2 (Magic Mouse 2). The new mouse is no longer battery-powered, it came charged, but this mouse, which is charged with lightning, is charged with the port on the bottom. Then, in 2024, the lightning port on the Magic Mouse 2 was updated and converted to USB Type-C format like other Apple devices due to European Union harmonisation issues.
Mark Gurman, known for his accurate predictions and analyses about Apple, says in his new newsletter that Apple is working on a new Magic Mouse design. According to Mark Gurman, with this new mouse design, Apple will create a new design by addressing many design problems and many complaints, including the charging port input, which users frequently complain about. According to Mark Gurman, Apple’s peripheral team is currently holding several different Apple Magic Mouse prototypes. However, the team is not currently settled on any design.
Another claim from users says that Apple can use wireless charging in the new mouse. However, even though Apple’s work on the new Magic Mouse design is good news, according to Mark Gurman, Apple can introduce the new mouse within 12 months to 18 months. In this case, Apple can introduce the new Magic Mouse at an event in the spring with the new MacBooks in 2026. After the Magic Mouse, the Magic Keyboard is also expected to receive a change.
