Karate Kid: Legends, which attracts attention with the return of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to Far Eastern Cinema, appeared before the audience with its first trailer. The film, scheduled to be released in May 2025, is about Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) handing over Miyagi’s legacy to a new hero. At the centre of the film will be Ben Wang, who plays a young student named Li Fong.
Mr Han and Daniel will join forces for Karate-Kid
The trailer begins with Mr Han training his students in China and shows Li standing out as a talented karate student. However, for some unknown reason, Mr Han needs the help of Daniel LaRusso for his new student. The two meet in New York to continue Li’s training. The overall tone of the trailer focuses on the legacy and the journey of the two masters to train the student.
The trailer shows Li Fong being targeted by a group on the New York subway. While karate stands out as a defence mechanism for Li, we witness him using his reflexes to overpower someone chasing him in an alleyway. In addition, scenes of Daniel and Mr. Han fighting together and a rooftop karate tournament point to possible climaxes of the film.
The film will centre on Li learning karate for self-defence, while also testing the student’s skills in a big tournament. It is likely that we will watch a stream of films in which Mr. Han will pursue the potential he sees in Li and strive to bring him to better places with sacrifice.
Watching Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio together again will excite Karate Kid fans, while Li Fong’s story will aim to attract a new generation of viewers to the big screen. What did you think of the trailer? Don’t forget to share your opinions in the comments!
