Sony made several announcements at CES 2025 that excited PlayStation fans. The company announced that they are developing an anime series inspired by Ghost of Tsushima Legends and are in the early stages of a film project for Horizon Zero Dawn. However, the real bombshell of the event came from Naughty Dog’s creative director Neil Druckmann: The Last of Us season 2 will premiere on HBO in April!
What will The Last of Us offer in the new season?
The second season of The Last of Us will be based on The Last of Us Part 2, which debuted in 2020. However, the entire story of the second game will not fit into this season. Druckmann explained that this complex and impressive story will be told over at least two seasons. Names we recognise from the first season such as Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will return to the screens in the new season with new actors such as Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Catherine O’Hara and Jeffery Wright.
Sony’s other projects also attract attention. A series adaptation was previously planned for Horizon Zero Dawn on Netflix, but this project could not be realised. Now, Columbia Pictures has rolled up its sleeves to turn this beloved game into a film. It is already curious to see how the film will compile and present the huge game story.
Finally, Ghost of Tsushima is preparing to step into the anime world as one of PlayStation Studios’ most beloved productions. This project will be part of Sony’s effort to expand its game universes to reach a wider audience.
