Exciting developments are underway for the next version of Valve’s popular portable game console Steam Deck. Last year, the company announced that it would make a big leap in performance for Steam Deck 2. Now, a new leak confirms these claims.
Which processor will Steam Deck 2 be powered by?
Steam Deck, which is currently on the market, uses a special chipset codenamed AERITH from AMD. This chip is based on Zen 2 architecture and offers 4 cores and 8 threads. According to reports, Steam Deck 2 will be powered by a processor called AERITH Plus. AERITH Plus includes significant improvements compared to its predecessor.

According to records, AERITH Plus can reach clock speeds of up to 3.8 GHz. The current AERITH model is clocked at 3.5 GHz, an increase of 300 MHz. The TDP level is also up to 20W. In the first model, this value was maximum 15W, so it will consume a little more power for a more powerful performance.
There is also a significant upgrade on the graphics side. The new model will have a GPU that can go up to 1.8 GHz. It is also stated that AERITH Plus will use LPDDR5X 8533 MT/s memory. In the current model, this value was 6400 MT/s. This upgrade will significantly increase data transfer speeds and will have a positive impact on game performance.
Although there is no exact information about the release date of Steam Deck 2, the emergence of this next-generation processor indicates that the console has reached an important stage in the development process. The new model is expected to be introduced later this year.
