Turkey became the country where the iPhone is sold at the highest price in the world in 2025. When we look at the country’s tax rates, the total tax burden reaches up to 103.6%. More specifically, when a smartphone produced outside of Turkey enters the country, it is subject to a 1% Ministry of Culture fee and a 12% TRT bandwidth tax, both added on top of its original price.

Of course, it’s not limited to just these. Then, a 50% Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) is added, and finally, a 20% Value Added Tax (KDV) is applied to the total amount. This causes smartphone prices, especially iPhones, to be more expensive than usual in the country.
