TSMC, the world’s largest contract semiconductor manufacturer, has announced that it will establish a new chip design center in Munich, Germany. The company will strengthen its presence in Europe with this center, which is planned to be operational in the third quarter of 2025.
TSMC to open chip design center in Europe
The announcement was made by TSMC Europe President Paul de Bot at the company’s 2025 Technology Symposium. The center, which will be established in Munich, will focus on the design of high-density, high-performance and energy-efficient chips.

This center will serve European customers operating in areas such as automotive, industrial systems, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. This new design center, which is an important pillar of TSMC’s strategy to combine production and design in Europe, will work together with the company’s ESMC production facility, which is currently in the process of being established.
The production facility in question is being implemented in partnership with Infineon, NXP and Robert Bosch and is TSMC’s first large-scale production investment in Europe. The coordinated operation of these two facilities will enable TSMC to offer more integrated and flexible solutions to its customers in Europe.
Thus, the company aims to establish a closer relationship with the European market not only in production but also in the design phase. In addition, TSMC continues to make major investments globally as well as in Europe.
The company, which has built a total of $65 billion in production infrastructure in the US state of Arizona, stated that this capacity has been completely sold by 2027. So what do you think about this? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
