Meta has approached OpenAI employees with offers exceeding $100 million to stay ahead of the competition in the AI space. However, these efforts have not had the expected impact within the company. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a statement that despite Meta’s aggressive offers, its best employees have chosen to stay with the company.
Meta is trying to attract OpenAI employees
Altman confirmed that Meta has offered high salaries, signing bonuses and compensation packages to many OpenAI employees. However, he stated that despite this, the offers have been rejected. Altman said, “None of our best employees have left so far. I am very happy about that.”
According to Altman’s statements, employees make decisions not only based on their salary levels, but also in line with the company’s long-term goals and culture. Employees who believe that OpenAI is closer to the vision of developing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), have rejected Meta’s attractive offers and preferred to stay in their positions.
It was stated that Meta’s transfer attempts were not limited to OpenAI alone. The company also made efforts to add OpenAI researcher Noam Brown and Google’s senior AI architect Koray Kavukcuoğlu to its team. However, neither name transferred to the company.
In addition to personnel transfers, Meta is also investing in new projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
