Apple has started adding energy efficiency labels to its iPhone and iPad models as part of a new regulation that came into effect in the European Union. This practice, which will be in effect as of June 20, 2025, will be included on the boxes of all new Apple devices sold in the EU.
iPhones sold in Europe will come with an energy label
The new labeling system shows the energy efficiency of each device according to the test criteria determined by the EU, with a rating from A to G. A represents the highest level of efficiency, while G represents the lowest level. The label not only provides information about energy consumption, but also provides detailed data about the overall durability and sustainability of the device.

The labels of iPhone and iPad models include information such as how long the battery lasts per full charge cycle, how many full charge cycles the battery will last, how resistant the device is to impacts, the degree of protection it offers against water and dust, and the repairability score.
In addition, the labels include the scratch resistance of the screen according to the Mohs hardness scale, the minimum guaranteed period for security updates that the device can receive, and many other technical details can be accessed via the product information pages in PDF format.
Apple states that this data is based on the test parameters defined by the European Union and that the evaluations are made directly in accordance with these criteria. The labels will be printed directly on the box of the devices and will also be visible on the product promotion and sales pages on Apple’s official websites.
The new energy labels cover six main criteria, such as the device’s energy efficiency per charge, battery life, repairability, water and dust resistance based on IP certification, drop impact resistance, and the usage time offered per full charge.
The aim of this consumer-focused application of the EU is to enable users to make more conscious device choices. With this step, Apple presents the environmental impact of its products in a more transparent way.
