Apple plans to make its new move in the wearable technology field in 2027. The company’s first smart glasses will be similar to the models offered by Meta under the Ray-Ban brand. According to information provided by Ming-Chi Kuo, one of Apple’s supply chain analysts, mass production of the device will begin in the second quarter of 2027.
Apple will appear with its smart glasses
Apple’s glasses will allow users to take photos and videos, listen to music, and control the device with both voice and touch commands. The model, which will not include an augmented reality (AR) screen, will offer a similar use to Meta’s current Ray-Ban smart glasses in this respect. Since Meta is expected to announce a new glasses model with a screen this year, it seems that Apple will enter the market later than its rival.

It is stated that Apple is working on different frame and material alternatives in order to design the device in a way that will appeal to a wider user base. However, it is not yet clear whether the company will partner with an eyewear brand like Meta — say, Ray-Ban or Oakley. Meta offers significant variety in the market with three different frame options based on the Wayfarer model.
According to sales forecasts, Apple plans to produce between 3 and 5 million of these glasses in 2027. These figures show that the company aims to gain a significant share in this new category. However, the current picture shows that Apple is a few years behind its competitors in this market. It is not yet known how Apple will differentiate itself from the current models that companies like Meta offer every year.
