Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has launched its G7 model, which it developed as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, in China. The vehicle draws attention with its balance of price, performance and equipment. The G7 stands out not only for being approximately $10,000 cheaper than the Model Y, but also for its range of over 700 kilometers and comprehensive technological infrastructure.
The Xpeng G7 model has been launched in China
The starting price of the Xpeng G7 has been determined as 195,800 yuan, or approximately $27,325, in the Chinese market. The price difference compared to the Tesla Model Y is approximately $9,448. This difference is one of the most important elements that puts the G7 ahead in terms of price-performance. The new SUV draws attention with its unique front design, which the brand calls “X Face”, and its LED light strip extending from end to end.

Although the G7 has the same wheelbase as the Tesla Model Y, it is approximately 10 centimeters longer. It is 4,892 mm long, 1,925 mm wide and 1,655 mm high. The vehicle has frameless side mirrors, hidden door handles integrated with the body, rim options ranging from 18 to 20 inches and a light strip that lights up blue when the autonomous mode is active.
The high level of equipment stands out in the interior. Electrically adjustable, heated, ventilated and massage seats are offered as standard in the G7’s cabin. The 15.6-inch central touch screen is at the center of all controls.
Armrests with wooden details, two 50W wireless charging pads, a large panoramic glass roof and a 20-speaker sound system support the interior equipment. Details such as microfiber ceiling covering, 256-color ambient lighting, digital rearview mirror, scent diffuser and encrypted glove box are also among the features offered by the G7.
Comfort elements for passengers in the rear section have not been forgotten. There are heated, ventilated and massage rear seats, an 8-inch screen, a foldable center armrest with two cup holders and a wireless charging unit. The vehicle’s luggage capacity starts at 819 liters and can be expanded to 2,277 liters when the seats are folded down. A total of 39 different storage areas are offered.
The Xpeng G7 comes in three different versions: 602 Long Battery Life Max, 702 Ultra-Long Battery Life Max and 702 Ultra. The numbers in the version names reflect the range values. The vehicle uses an electric motor that produces 218 kW (296 horsepower) and 450 Nm of torque.
The time to reach 100 km/h from 0 varies between 6.5 and 6.6 seconds. On the charging side, the 451 kW fast charging support stands out. With this system, the vehicle can gain 436 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. The charging time from 10% to 80% is stated as 12 minutes.
The G7 is equipped with radars, ultrasonic sensors, cameras and three Turing AI chips. This infrastructure works together with semi-autonomous driving technologies. It includes advanced safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane centering assistant, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition system, rear cross traffic warning and automatic emergency braking that works up to 130 km/h.
Another feature that Xpeng draws attention to is that the G7 is the first artificial intelligence-supported car with Level 3 computing power. The ability of the vehicle to project video outside via the augmented reality-based cinema mode while parked stands out as an innovation that offers an open-air cinema experience.
The G7 is a clear challenge to the Tesla Model Y with its price. It is seen that it has the potential to reshape the competition in the Chinese market with its hardware, range, charging speed and interior quality.
