The specifications of the Mate X7, one of Huawei’s highly anticipated models in its 2025 foldable phone line, have been leaked ahead of its launch. According to information shared by reliable China-based source Digital Chat Station, Huawei plans to introduce two new foldable devices in China in September this year: the tri-fold Mate XT 2 and the book-folding Mate X7. The company is preparing to launch its own foldable models, following competitors like Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and Honor.
Huawei Mate X7 specifications revealed
According to leaked information, the Mate X7 engineering prototype features a 7.95-inch, 2K resolution internal display. The display panel is equipped with COE LTPO technology and uses ultra-thin glass (UTG). This structure aims to both increase energy efficiency and enhance the panel’s durability.

The device is reportedly built on Huawei’s next-generation chip platform. This platform is said to be based on the Kirin 9030 processor, which is also expected to be featured in the Mate 80 series.
On the camera front, Huawei is testing two different primary sensors for the Mate X7. One of these offers a 50-megapixel resolution of 1/1.56 inches, while the other is slightly larger at 1/1.3 inches. Both sensors feature a physical variable aperture.
In addition, the device will reportedly be equipped with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with macro capabilities and a multi-spectral sensor to enhance image quality.
The Mate X7 is said to offer a high degree of water resistance while maintaining a thin and lightweight body. With these features, the device is expected to join Huawei’s high-end foldable line and run on the HarmonyOS 5.1 operating system, the same operating system used in the recently unveiled Pura 80 series.
The Mate XT 2, whose technical details have not yet been released, is notable for its tri-fold design. Initial reports suggest that this device will support satellite connectivity and utilize ultra-flexible glass (UFG) to enhance the screen’s durability.
Huawei’s new foldable models are seen as part of the company’s efforts to maintain its grip on the mobile device market, particularly in China. As the launch date approaches, leaked information about the Mate X7 suggests the device will be a compelling flagship option.
