BMC unveiled its new vehicles for Turkey’s defense industry for the first time at the IDEF 2025 Fair. The event, held at the Istanbul Expo Center, showcased numerous new vehicles and systems, including the TURAN 4×4 Armored Cargo and Personnel Carrier, the ZEYBEK 8×8 Armored Tank Carrier, the ZEYBEK 8×8 Armored Recovery Vehicle, and the ALTUĞ 8×8 105mm Gun Tank Destroyer. The unveiling was hosted by Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of the Board of BMC, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Defense Industries.
BMC Unveils New Defense Vehicles
The company’s most prominent launches were three new military vehicles, all developed with Turkish engineering. These are the TURAN 4×4 armored cargo and personnel carrier, the ZEYBEK 8×8 armored tank carrier, and the ALTUĞ 8×8 105mm gun tank destroyer.
The vehicles were designed to meet operational needs in the field. BMC’s R&D and engineering capabilities were prioritized in the developed systems. All new vehicles showcased at the company’s fair were unveiled to the public for the first time at IDEF 2025.
The TURAN 4×4 vehicle stands out with its capacity to carry both personnel and logistical cargo in challenging mission environments. Its adaptability to different configurations offers versatile use. The vehicle provides STANAG 4569 protection against ballistic, mine, and IED threats and can reach a top speed of 105 km/h.
With a range of 650 kilometers, TURAN can be manufactured with open or closed chassis to meet various mission requirements. It can operate as a weapons carrier, patrol vehicle, command vehicle, and personnel carrier.
The ZEYBEK 8×8 Armored Tank Carrier vehicle was developed to transport heavy platforms such as the M60, LEOPARD, ACV, ZPT, and FIRTINA howitzers, including the ALTAY main battle tank. The vehicle has a top speed of 80 km/h and a range of 800 km. Distinguished by its high payload capacity, armored cabin, and 30% lateral slope, the vehicle can ford water up to 750 mm deep.
The ZEYBEK 8×8 Armored Recovery Vehicle was also among the models exhibited for the first time. This model, which allows for the rapid evacuation of damaged or immobilized vehicles from combat environments, stands out with its safe intervention and effective recovery capabilities. Prioritizing the safety of rescue personnel and the disabled vehicle, the system provides protection to STANAG 4569. The vehicle has a range of 550 kilometers, can reach a speed of 80 km/h, and offers a 60% gradeability.
The tank destroyer version of the ALTUĞ 8×8 platform, equipped with a 105 mm gun turret, was also unveiled to the public for the first time at IDEF 2025. This new ALTUĞ version was developed with a modular roof structure that allows for the integration of different weapon systems.
The vehicle can carry a payload of up to 8 tons. Capable of carrying weapon systems ranging from 7.62 mm to 120 mm, the platform offers high maneuverability with its four-axle steering. The vehicle, which offers increased protection against mine and IED threats, offers multi-mission capabilities thanks to its structure that allows for various configurations.
Updated versions of BMC’s classic vehicles were also on display at the fair. These included the right-hand-drive KİRPİ II, the ZEYBEK 4×4 5-Ton Tactical Wheeled Vehicle, and the multi-purpose armored vehicle VURAN 4×4. Versions of the VURAN, currently in active use in the field, are powered by domestically produced engines. The TUNA engine used in the vehicle was developed domestically by BMC POWER.
The domestically produced engine and transmission systems introduced by BMC POWER at the fair also attracted attention. These systems, developed for naval and land platforms, included engines capable of generating power ranging from 400 hp to 1,500 hp. Two new power systems, the Mavi Batu and Fırtına Power Group, were unveiled to the public for the first time as 100% domestically produced vehicles.
BMC Chairman Fuat Tosyalı stated at the launch that all vehicles were developed with Turkish engineering and designed specifically to meet the operational needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. The systems being introduced are expected to be in demand both domestically and internationally.
