The automotive market in Turkey has been shaken by the new Special Consumption Tax (SCT) regulation that went into effect yesterday. The new tax rates, which cover all passenger vehicles with electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engines, have disrupted price lists. Tesla was one of the brands most affected by this shockwave. The company announced Model Y prices, updated to reflect the new SCT rates, and the figures are truly mind-boggling. Tesla prices have increased significantly following the SCT hike.
The most striking impact of the new regulation was seen on the Tesla Model Y Standard Range version, one of the most popular electric models in Turkey. Previously in the lowest SCT bracket of 10%, this model has been raised to the 25% SCT bracket.
This increase was directly reflected in the price, with the model’s sales price jumping from 1,866,203 TL to 2,120,685 TL, a 254,482 TL increase.
