Apple is bringing a sleep score feature to Apple Watch users with watchOS 26. Details revealed in the iOS 26 beta show that with this new system, users will be able to see how well they slept throughout the night directly on the watch. This feature, previously only available through third-party apps, is now integrated directly into Apple’s ecosystem.
watchOS 26 introduces a sleep score
A visual element within the Health app code in iOS 26 features an Apple Watch icon with the word “84” written on it. This number appears to represent a score related to the user’s sleep quality.

Three colored bars surround the number. The orange bar represents the time spent awake; light blue indicates REM sleep; and dark blue indicates basic or deep sleep. The graphics in the image are surrounded by sleep-related icons that Apple uses in various areas across iOS. These include the moon and stars, the “zzz” symbol, icons for the bed, sleep stages, an alarm clock, and a thermometer.
The image uses the phrase “Watch Focus Score.” This suggests that Apple has implemented a system that not only provides a sleep score but also analyzes the user’s attention level the next day based on sleep duration. The scoring system not only focuses on sleep obtained throughout the night but may also provide an estimate of how focused users are during the day.
With this new feature, the Apple Watch’s health tracking capabilities are being taken a step further. Until now, Apple has allowed users to track their daily lives with numerous health-focused features, such as heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and exercise tracking. The sleep score feature adds a new dimension to this tracking system.
The sleep score function will be integrated into Apple Watches with the watchOS 26 update. It’s not yet clear when Apple will roll out this feature to all users. However, findings in the iOS 26 beta indicate that the feature is in the final stages of development.
