Marvel Studios has begun preparations for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 3. According to Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, the film will enter production in early 2027 and hit the big screen on February 18, 2028. This date was previously on the Marvel calendar, but the release date for the film was not specified. Sneider’s statements have answered this question.
Black Panther 3 to be released in 2028
Marvel hasn’t yet made an official announcement for Black Panther 3, but new details continue to emerge periodically. The most prominent example of this is the announcement last November that Denzel Washington had joined the project. However, it is not yet clear which character Washington will portray in the film.

The latest information shared by Variety reveals that ideas for the third film, to be directed by Coogler, are beginning to take shape and that there has been intense interest within the studio. Coogler, who directed the first two films, remains a key figure in Marvel’s long-term projects.
The final film in the series, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was released in 2022. While it didn’t reach the box office success of the first installment, it grossed $859 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Marvel film of the last five years. Given this, the confirmation of a third film isn’t surprising.
The official announcement for the film is expected to be made at the D23 event this month, which will take place from August 9-11.
