Falcom and GungHo have confirmed that Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is getting a Switch 2 Edition. This refreshed version boosts resolution and framerate, sharpens graphics, and trims down load times.
The upgrade is digital only, and it comes with a small price tag.
Trails in the Sky Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack details

The Upgrade Pack costs $1.00 USD (regional prices apply). It unlocks these enhancements for anyone who already owns the Switch release. But keep in mind: the pack doesn’t include the full game on its own.
For collectors, Falcom has more options. A standard physical version is coming, plus a SteelBook edition and a larger Bracer Edition with extras.
Prologue demo confirmed for Trails in the Sky
Falcom also announced a prologue demo, now live in Japan. It covers the game’s opening section and gives players a chance to test the improvements early. Even better, save data carries over to the full game. That means you can start playing now and continue your progress when the complete release arrives.
The full launch is set for September 19, 2025, leaving fans less than a month to explore the prologue.
Why Switch 2 owners may want the Upgrade Pack
This isn’t a full remake, but it’s still meaningful. The Switch 2 Edition delivers sharper graphics, smoother performance, and faster loading. In a game filled with dialogue-heavy scenes and large environments, those improvements matter.
The Upgrade Pack also keeps the entry cost low, giving current owners a choice: stay with the standard Switch version or pay a dollar for better performance.
Trails in the Sky soars again
Between the demo, the Upgrade Pack, and the special editions, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is set for a strong return. Estelle and Joshua’s adventure has always been a slow burn, but this time it comes with a smoother spark.
