Narrative-heavy RPG Rue Valley has secured a Switch release date. Publisher Owlcat Games and developer Emotion Spark Studio confirmed at Gamescom that the isometric adventure will land on 11th November 2025.

Like its clear inspiration, Disco Elysium, Rue Valley puts choice-driven storytelling front and center. You’ll shape your character’s traits, navigate a time loop, and unravel the mysteries surrounding Rue Valley itself. Its isometric presentation and branching dialogue will feel familiar to fans, yet the tone promises to be a touch more upbeat and comedic.

Beyond its story, the game comes with a unique collaboration. Owlcat has partnered with Movember, the men’s health charity, to highlight how games can spark new conversations about mental wellbeing. The team outlined three key goals:

    • Meeting players where they are: Using gaming as a non-clinical space to promote mental health.
    • Gaming as connection and healing: Encouraging reflection through character-driven storytelling.
    • Normalizing therapy: Presenting therapy themes safely through immersive narrative choices.

This approach could make it stand out not just as entertainment, but as a meaningful social tool.

While most CRPGs lean into darkness, Rue Valley mixes sharp humor with its heavier themes. The combination of a looping timeline, flexible character creation, and dialogue-driven design means no two playthroughs will feel the same.

With Rue Valley now confirmed for November, Switch players can look forward to another story-rich RPG before the holiday season. And with former Disco Elysium developers at Longdue preparing their own spiritual successor, the appetite for narrative-driven experiences looks stronger than ever.

Rue Valley asks not just how you play, but who you want to become when the loop resets.
