According to a new leak from Weibo’s Focus Digital, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro will feature reverse wireless charging. This would mark the first time Apple has included this functionality in an iPhone. The feature would allow users to charge other devices like an Android smartphone or an AirPods case by simply placing them on the back of the iPhone.
iPhone 17 Pro will feature reverse charging
Reverse wireless charging has been a long-awaited feature for iPhone users. It’s been rumored since the iPhone 12, but Apple has never implemented it until now, likely due to performance and reliability issues. While the iPhone 15 series introduced reverse wired charging via its USB-C port, this new report suggests Apple has finally perfected the wireless version.
The leak also highlights the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is expected to come with a large 5,000 mAh battery. This is a significant increase and would provide more than enough power to support reverse wireless charging.
Apple is expected to officially unveil the new iPhone 17 series at a special event on September 9.
