Honor has launched its foldable phone, the Magic V5, globally, after its launch in China last month. Positioned in the same segment as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, the device offers significant improvements in design, durability, artificial intelligence features, and display quality.

The Magic V5 features a 7.95-inch foldable OLED inner display and a 6.43-inch OLED outer display. Both displays offer pen support, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.07 billion colors, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and 5000 nits peak brightness. 4320Hz PWM dimming, motion compensation, adaptive light technology, and a carbon fiber-reinforced inner panel enhance durability.
The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, developed on a 4nm manufacturing process. The octa-core CPU delivers high performance with speeds up to 4.32GHz and the Adreno 830 GPU. The phone comes with MagicOS 9.0.1 operating system based on Android 15. Google Gemini AI can be launched with a double tap and offers artificial intelligence tools such as real-time translation, transcription, AI Cutout, image-to-video conversion, and Honor Notes. Multi-Flex mode supports multitasking with three apps simultaneously.
The camera features a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide angle, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom are supported. Both the inner and outer displays feature a 20MP selfie camera. Honor Image Engine supports AI Super Zoom, Motion Sensing Capture, and advanced portrait mode.
The 5820mAh silicon-carbon battery supports 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. Wireless reverse charging is also available. The battery capacity and charging technologies ensure long battery life and fast charging.
The phone features a Super Steel Hinge hinge that can withstand over 500,000 folds. It features IP58/IP59 certification, NanoCrystal Shield protection, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual 5G, USB-C connectivity, and stereo speaker support. The Ivory White model is the thinnest option at 8.8 mm thick and weighs 217 grams, while the other colors weigh 222 grams.
The Honor Magic V5 is available in Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. The version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at £1,699.99 in the UK and €1,999 in Europe. The device is available through Honor’s official channels and retail partners.
