Huawei, expanding its smartphone market to tablets, is preparing to announce the MatePad Mini, a new compact tablet designed to rival Apple’s iPad Mini. The company has set a launch date of September 4th. This new tablet will launch alongside the foldable Mate XT series.

Huawei MatePad Mini 4 is on the way

In the tech world, we’ve recently seen models like the RedMagic Astra and Redmi K Pad as alternatives to the iPad Mini. Now, Huawei is adding a new player to the mix.

According to leaked information from Huawei, the MatePad Mini will feature an 8.8-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display will feature a punch-hole notch and very thin bezels. The tablet is expected to be powered by the Kirin 9020 processor found in the Huawei Pura 80 series. This chipset runs on a 2.5GHz main core architecture.

The device’s battery is also noteworthy. The tablet, expected to come with a 6500mAh battery supporting 66W fast charging, aims to provide users with a long-lasting experience. The device, which Huawei describes as “compact,” is said to weigh approximately 260 grams and be slightly thicker than 5mm. It will also feature an anti-glare display option.

With the launch of the MatePad Mini, competition in the compact tablet segment is expected to intensify. Consumers will now have a wider range of options and the opportunity to choose the model that best suits their needs in terms of both performance and portability.
