Huawei continues to dominate the foldable smartphone market in China. The Huawei Pura X, launched in March of this year, has been a resounding success, reaching over 700,000 units sold. The device signaled its popularity with nearly 100,000 activations in its first week of launch.
Huawei Controls Three-Quarters of the Market
The impressive sales performance of the Huawei Pura X has further solidified Huawei’s position in the Chinese foldable smartphone market. The company currently holds approximately 75% of the market, giving it a significant advantage over strong competitors like Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo.

Priced at $1,000, the Huawei Pura X offers a different approach to foldable devices with its 16:10 aspect ratio display. The model is also the first smartphone to feature Huawei’s full-fledged HarmonyOS 5 operating system, which includes features such as the latest artificial intelligence capabilities and an updated voice assistant.
Not content with the success of the Pura X, Huawei is also focusing on expanding its foldable device portfolio. The company has also introduced the Mate XT, its second mass-produced phone with a tri-folding display, and the MatePad Mini, its new compact tablet. The fact that the first-generation Mate XT sold approximately 500,000 units in the first half of 2025 alone demonstrates the positive reception Huawei’s innovative initiatives in this area have received from consumers.
