At IFA 2025, Lenovo unveiled the Smart Motion Concept, a motorized laptop stand that automatically adjusts your screen’s position. Unlike typical stands, this one can raise, lower, tilt, and swivel your laptop to keep it at ergonomic eye level, even tracking your face to stay aligned as you move.
Lenovo Smart Motion Concept features

The Smart Motion Concept works almost like Apple’s Center Stage, except the entire laptop shifts to follow you. During demonstrations, the stand smoothly tracked side-to-side and up-and-down movement around a table. In another playful demo, it performed a “dance,” running through its full range of motion to music.
The stand includes:
- Built-in cooling fans
- An integrated USB hub
- Face-tracking software using the laptop’s webcam
- Remote and gesture controls, the latter via Lenovo’s AI Ring concept
Smart Motion Concept stand designed with flexibility in mind
Lenovo developed the Smart Motion Concept as an offshoot of its Auto Twist prototype, which rotated laptop screens automatically. The idea is to enhance comfort while sitting or moving, but Lenovo also imagines it helping users with accessibility needs by removing the need to manually adjust screen position.
Not just a concept gimmick
While still experimental, the it shows how accessories can make laptops more adaptive. It requires its own power source, and Lenovo hasn’t announced plans for release. Even so, its mix of ergonomics, smart tracking, and quirky “dancing” highlights Lenovo’s ongoing push to rethink how we interact with everyday devices.
