Apple is optimistic about the iPhone 17 series, which it will unveil tomorrow. According to reports, the company has set an ambitious production target of 100 million units for 2025. This figure exceeds even the 90 million target Apple set for last year’s iPhone 16 series. After production was reduced to 84 million last year due to low demand, this new target demonstrates Apple’s confidence in the iPhone 17 series.
Apple is launching the iPhone 17 series with confidence
The iPhone 17 Air, which will replace the “Plus” model in the new series, will feature a thinner design. Production breakdown indicates that the highest production will be for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This will be followed by the iPhone 17 Pro, the standard iPhone 17, and the iPhone 17 Air, with the lowest production volume.

The Chinese company BOE will supply the LTPO OLED panels for the iPhone 17 Pro, while the other panels will be supplied by Samsung and LG. While the report doesn’t specify the distribution of production between India and China, it does suggest that the largest production capacity will be in China, which will likely face higher tariffs.
Apple has taken precautions against this situation. The company has instructed its suppliers to increase automation to reduce production costs and has also added multiple manufacturers to its supply chain to offset the Trump-era tariffs.
For example, they work with five different suppliers for DRAM and NAND memory. This diversity helps Apple increase its bargaining power and boost profit margins. We will see in the coming months whether these ambitious production targets will be realized.
