American technology giant Microsoft is changing its hybrid work model for its employees. With this new policy, the company requires employees to work from the office at least three days a week. This new policy will initially be implemented in select US offices, but will later be implemented globally.
Microsoft to Change Work Model
Microsoft’s Human Resources Director, Amy Coleman, says this decision is informed by in-office data. “We’ve thoroughly analyzed our teams’ work patterns,” Coleman says. “The data clearly shows that employees perform better when they’re together more in the office. That’s why we’re updating our flexible work policy and implementing a three-day office week policy.”

Microsoft’s decision regarding its work arrangements has also sparked protests. A group of current and former Microsoft employees joined forces with pro-Palestinian communities to organize a protest called “No Azure for Apartheid.”
On August 20th, protesters occupied Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, demanding that the company end its agreements with the Israeli military and state. The activists issued a statement saying, “Join the growing ‘No Tech for Apartheid’ movement and demand that Microsoft truly act in accordance with its own self-proclaimed ethical values by ending its direct and indirect involvement in Israel’s apartheid regime and genocide.”
