Sony has released the anticipated system update for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles. The update, which went live on September 17th, brings features from beta testing to all users. This new version adds multi-device pairing to the DualSense controller and a Power Saving mode to the console.
Update released for PlayStation 5
One of the most notable features of the update is that the DualSense controller can now pair with multiple devices. The controller can stay paired with up to four different devices simultaneously. This allows users to quickly switch between PC, Mac, mobile devices, and the PS5 without having to re-pair via Bluetooth each time. This feature significantly simplifies the experience, especially for PC gamers.

Another important new feature is Power Saving mode. This mode is activated by selecting System and Power Saving in the console’s Settings menu. Games like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Demon’s Souls support this mode immediately after the update. The upcoming Ghost of Yotei will also be compatible with this new feature.
Industry speculation suggests that this Power Saving mode could be linked to a new PlayStation handheld console to be released in the future. It’s been suggested that developers could achieve some technical specifications for a new device through this mode. While Power Saving mode’s use is currently limited, the DualSense’s multiplayer feature has met many players’ expectations.
